What type of meat exactly should I be using to get pulled pork? Am hearing many different opinions around.

Thanks

  • Most common is pork "butt". The butt refers to the butt joint of tr shoulder. You can also use whole shoulder (they can be 20 lb and up) or picnic ham (bottom muscle inthe full shoulder. I would ask for pork butts and you should be fine.

Depending on where you are located, boston butt will get you the same cut as a pork butt-if in doubt just ask the chain grocery butcher or a local one if you use same.
