Baked Apples

Has anyone ever tried baked apples on the egg? If so I could use some starting tips.

I've cut them in half, removed the core and added cinnamon and brown sugar.

Not having done them on the egg but in an oven 350º to 400º F for 1/2 hour or so, depends on the apple variety, best to stab with small knife after 1/2 hour and see how much resistance there is. It should be a little less resistance than boiled potato.Gerhard

I did some a couple of weeks ago based on a recipe from Jacques Pepin. He cut off the tops and bottoms and cored each one. He placed the four apples in a baking dish on a slice of french bread. Over this he poured a mixture of apricot jam and maple syrup and placed a big dollop of butter in the core hole. I followed this and baked them in the egg with place setter at 400 degrees for an hour.

It's easy to make apple crisp in a dutch oven on the egg. Lots of recipes on the web. Apples, butter, flour, brown sugar, oats, spice.
