Platesetter Issues

I am new to the BGE family, I bought an XL 2 weeks ago (mainly for smoking). I have used it everyday grilling dinner, but I really want to smoke a butt & loins this weekend (family coming over). My only problem is I don't have a platesetter yet. I purchased/paid for one at the same time I bought my BGE XL (2 weeks ago), but my dealer told me BGE is backed up on making platesetters and it is yet to come in. I called BGE yesterday and spoke with someone who said he would look into my problem and also said there is no shortage of platesetters. I feel confident my problem will be addressed, has anyone experienced platesetter taking this long to come in? I don't want to be a pest, but 2 weeks seems like a long time to ship something from GA to FL.

Hopefully the dealer is not just waiting until they make a bge order. I think they get free shipping over a certain amount.Geaux Tigers!!!

Skip the plate setter and get the spider and adjustable rig combo from the ceramic grill store. It can do what the plate setter does and much more...it's more $$ but worth it in my opinion.

The dealer is probably waiting to place a large enough order to have it palletized. Shipping platesetters singlely by UPS has been a disaster for dealers. I had 3 separate times it came in broken, so the dealer waited to get a large order together and it came in fine.Felton, Ca. 2-LBGE, 1-Small, PBC, PK360, Genesis Summit, Camp Chef Flattop, Smokefire 24, Traeger Pro Series 22 Pellet with a Smoke Daddy insert, Gateway 55 Gal. drum, SNS Kettle w/acc.

I understand the dealer wanting to wait for a full order, but we will be going on week 3. When I think about what I paid for the BGE XL, it is gettting really frustrating.

No platesetter here. Check out the suggestions I got and what I did.

What JerlChicken said. Unfortunately I can't "quote" him.My actuary says I'm dead.

If you have the rib rack, you can indirect cook by placing the meat on the rib rack, with the rib rack placed inside a disposable aluminum baking pan placed on the cooking grid. That was my indirect cooking setup until I finally broke down and bought a plate setter.
