my new Staging Table

Don't know about you folks, but I always like to work with my grill off my egg when I'm loading, unloading or maybe even turning like 30 wings. Otherwise my stabilized fire temp can get away from me, plus if needed I like to take a little time. One of the drawbacks I had was where to place the grill while doing this and the grease and mess it leaves behind.
Sooooo, I dreamed up my Staging Table!
It's 14 x 12 and is topped with a piece of aluminium flashing for easy clean up. Yes I got carried away and finished the wood and added a $6 handle even! Note the 2 drawer pulls in the back corners to keep a loaded grill from sliding off.
The construction is solid (that's pronounced overkill  ) and the flashing is backed on the inside so it has no give.

EGGcellent idea!! I suffer from the same problem...I use an old huge cutting board, but the really like the little rollers that hold the grid!
-
Nice Ron, you and I are alike, always gotta be messin' around with stuff, looking for a better way!!
-
Thanks! only took me 11 years fighting grease!
-
I'm glad! You'd be surprised all the uses I have found for having a roll of aluminum flashing around over the years!

Thank you!

LOL - but my excess energy in retirement doesn't always coincide with my ideas!

Three thumbs? OK! works for me!

That would be an excellent replacement for the top of my Weber Genesis... :laugh:___________

LOL - other than paying cash money for the handle and the 2 knobs all of it was just stuff in my workshop - but the funniest thing is all of that wood came from a nice wooden pallet I saw in the trash at a store! LOL - once a scavenger always a scavenger!
-
Thanks - I used to use a couple ugly fire bricks and they had a tendency to be slippery and I was always afraid the grill was going off on the deck - so I thought this flashing would be even more slippery and a couple stops would make sense!

guilty as charged!

Ron, looks like a handy item, also a well made device I must say. I use bricks much as you described for the same purpose. Again a very nice design and good use of stuff thats been hanging around the garage/shop for a while.

I like it! Nothing can burn/melt from a hot grid and easy to clean, stoppers at the back, handle for carrying. Looks like you thought of everything. I can see where this would come in handy. I can imagine this as a good spot for anything hot... a Dutch oven, a plate setter, pizza stone.

Thanks man! I just found your email and have replied. Holler back by morning if you want to proceed as I'm out and about in town tomorrow - otherwise it will be Monday before I get back to town.

Thank you!!!

LOL - yup!!! All of the above! I really toyed in my mind with adding some finishing trim to hide some of my metal working flaws, but then it hit me...trim would mean more cleaning and besides this wasn't meant to be a piece of furniture. Thanks Clay!

Double hmmm back at ya, dude! Years ago I tried to adapt a "new and perfectly clean metal garbage can lid to this similar usage. While that adaption works for close family who understood many people didn't get the hang of seeing a garbage can lid next to their soon to be consumed food, so that lid became my circular cleaning tray.

Just replied to your email. Thanks!!!!!!

Ummmmm....I think 'Overkill' is an understatement, as well!!! Nice set up, and great idea!

Very nice! I use my old gasser. Your's takes up far less room.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.
