Don't think the other hand is what you need to worry about

Glad I'm not the only who licks it.......or am I?

But I often rinse it under running water and paper towel dry it.

I believe their concern resides with water getting into the body through the probe connection, even though it claims to be water proof. Just rinse the probe with it pointing down and you'll be alright.

I mean... they test it in boiling water! Tap water isn't going to hurt it.

Thanks for that, Egg Master 3000! Yes, in defense of the "manual" it just says not to put the Thermapen body under the tap: "Wipe your Thermapen regularly, but don't place it under the tap, submerge it, or put it in the dishwasher." Putting the probe into water is what it was made to do!!

As a proud new owner of a Termapen I am curious as to how everyone keeps the probes clean both during and after a cook. The manual says not to place the probe under the tap and instead suggests using anti-bacterial wipes. Any suggestions where to pick up those wipes? Any other suggestions on cleaning? Thanks in advance.

Congrats on the new Thermapen, Steve. Let us know if you ever have any questions or needs. When you buy a Thermapen from ThermoWorks we stand behind you ready to help! timothy@thermoworks.com
