and other memories.
Hope the post doesn't offend by getting too far off topic. I'm sitting here watching the first cool, rainy weather of the season hit San Antonio, and was pulling up pics from New Mexico of the Mini. Found a bunch I hadn't posted so I thought I'd put them up.
Can you see the Man in Taos Mountain? Surely you can pick out the trophy trout. Wish me and the Mini were still there.
Mike

Talpa Tavern looks like a place I would like.
Good pictures Mike.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers. -
Showing off your secret place again, huh!
Thanks... Beautiful as ever.
Been misting rain all day here too. I'm in shorts and T-shirt but I may have to break out the long sleeve shirt to go to the Mexican restaurant tonight. I'll definitely need some anti-freeze before the fajitas.

Been going past that place for nearly 60 years. First time I ever stopped to take a picture. Can't remember when it ceased operating. Probably been a scuffle or two take place behind those doors.
-
Will be having me a patio fire this evening. Mama's got a meeting, and Marina is on her way home from a field trip to the Renaissance Festival. Loner dinner tonight. That's OK.

Mike those are some amazing nature pics TKS for posting them
-
Reminds me when I was a you lad in the '50's and would trail ride up the Pecos river about 10-15 miles from the town of Pecos NM and fly fish at the beaver dams. Great eating and memories.
-
That's not too awfully far away from here. Beautiful country. Thanks very much for the rub. It will be tested tonight.

That thing must have put up quite a fight. Keeper right?
Cool pics. -
I have a pretty vivid imagination, but can't say as I see the man in the mountain - can you give me a pointer? Beautiful pix as always!
-
THAT sure is a pretty part on NM.......
coming to Plano this weekend? -
No, Ma'am. Gotta go to Lubbock.
-
Upper center, just to right...two almost equal circles of trees form the eyes, bald head, sort of a Fu Man Chu moustache....Back away from the screen, Ron!

got it...thanks, Mike!

Was actually pointed out to me by a Taos artist that I met. Obviously well known there.

On a 1 ounce rod,...yes they did. Know your stream and adjust your gear to maximize your fun. This particular stream is stocked, but over the past 20 or so years has reverted to a predominately German Brown fishery. Some folks insist that size matters....I'm getting old, and thereby contend that I can't remember if it does, or not. :silly:
Good evening, My Friend.
Mike -
Thank you for posting these delightful photographs - OT, so what? I love to look at posts like yours - couldn't see the man in the mountain (it's been along day - I'll keep looking).
-
Wow that stirs memories! Taos is one of our favorite places when we head West. As your pics show just a lovley place. The town reminds me of Santa Fe back 35 years ago before it got so commercialized. Been a few years since we were there but can't wait to return. Thanks.

See my response to RRP. Thanks for the kind words.

Some of God's greatest country, for sure!
Best to you, Buddy.

Ohhh, nice shots all around.
I love to catch brookies. when I was a little boy them and cutthroats were the first fish I learned to catch on a flyrod. That looks like a parachute Adams you're using??Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery -
 and I taught ya!
hahaha

Pics 8 & 9 are awesome. We really enjoy the chiles you sent several years ago from your NM excursions. So much so that I've called and put an order in to resupply :>)
Beautiful country out there. -
What fantastic pics!!! The color on those fish was great!
-
just looks like the perfect time of year to be there. ive got a little 3 wt 6 foot bamboo midge rod that would be perfect for that place. have a little lodge fry pan to cook them in as well nice colors, they really pick up the color later in the yearfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
-
Correct My Friend! Good eyes! (all 3 of them). Parachute Adams is pretty much my go to fly. Those are very young German Browns that have almost completely reclaimed this fishery. Occasionally a Cutthroat or stocked rainbow that has survived the Summer fishing pressure, but mostly Browns, anymore. The lack of people is why I wait until Fall to go.
Mike -
Thanks, Buddy! Good hearing from you.
-
Small but beautiful. I'm still struck by the beauty every time I catch one.
Mike -
Thanks much, My Friend!

So you're coming to the Chicken Ranch, huh? You're in for a treat!
