So all day while i was at work i kept thinking about what I should cook tonight for dinner on my girlfriend. So it basically was a game time decision as I pulled up onto the parking lot of the grocery store. I thought steaks! I found a nice little NY Strip and a boneless sirloin. I have never tried steaks on the egg so I was flying blind

Being it was after work I decided to use over the counter seasoning instead of creating my own. So I put a very thing layer of mustard on and then sprinkled some Weber Chicago Steak seasoning on.

I fired up the egg (I'm not sure what's more fun eggin' or playing with the torch LOL. I let it get to 700 and I put the steaks on. I went about a minute and half opened and flipped and closed. I let go about another minute and a half then I finished the cook open (about another 3 1/2 minutes.

I probably should have went hire on temp to get better marks. However they melted in my mouth. The best results I have ever had. The best part is I am sure they can be better once this was my first stab! I accidentally ate them both...

  • BTW sorry for the poor grammar and spelling

Brian ... Are you having a fish fry this Saturday? haha! :woohoo:
  • Those steaks look great. Question - How do you start your BGE and how long did it take to get to 700

Great looking steaks Brian. How does one accidently eat both steaks? Surely you didn't tell your GF that you ate her steak! Or did you?

Any road will take you there if you don't know where you're going.

  • Quoting you "So all day while i was at work i kept thinking about what I should cook tonight for dinner on my girlfriend...."

Funny - I thought you were referring to your BGE as your girlfriend - or were you?

    Great lookin steaks!!!
  • They were indeed. Best i ever made on any grill
  • I use a torch to light it. Seems to me its the only way because you can get it lit so quickly. Once i torch it I leave it open for about 5 minutes. Once I closed it it actually only took about 15 20 minutes after that to get up to that. I had the vent wide open and no daisy wheel on top.
  • my name is Eddie not Brian  . The egg is my girlfriend LOL. That would hurt if I cooked the steak on a real female. I'm not into the pain thing
  • That's EXACTLY what I was referring too LOL. She doesn't talk back and she actually cooks :woohoo:
  • I can get to 700* in 20 minutes using one cube. (I'm working on posting some pictures)

    Nice looking work!

It looks like you have experienced the same result as I, the seasonng burns on the steak.

My last ribeyes were cooked about the same way, but I put the seasoning on while the meat was resting.
