I decided to do some wings today for an elderly friend of ours who recently got out of the hospital. He loves chicken wings so I thought I'd surprise him.
I made my favorite wings, It's the origanl Buffalo wings recipe from the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York. I keep trying different recipes but somehow I always go back to this one. It's definitely my favorite.
When I was prepping the wings I normally wash them and pat dry. I started to think.......Do you really need to wash the wings first? So, I googled it and this is what I found.
"Until about five years ago, chicken recipes started with rinsing. Then research showed that washing poultry can increase the risk of cross-contaminating something else in your kitchen (as the water splashes, it hits sponges, utensils, etc.). Plus, any bacteria in the bird will be destroyed by heat anyway.
I was glad to find that out, just one step less that I have to do.
The ingredients
Combined the ingredients and sauced both sides.
On the egg 350 direct.
Sauced again after 7 mins. and then flip every 7 mins. till done (about 45 mins. total cook time).
Done
Delivered to my friend Jim. Sat and visited while he ate. Here he is 14 wings later. He said it sure beat hospital food.
Picked up my Uncle Ray and granddaughter Hailey and spent the rest of the afternoon at the park....I love days like this.

Would you mind sharing the exact recipe for your sauce?
-
Great looking wings Anne. Anchor Bar sauce is all I use on wings. I cheat and have a friend bring me 4-5 jars every time he is in Buffalo (several times a year). I'm pretty sure there are a number of places to order it online also, and it is very inexpensive.
I actually prefer their "hotter" or "suicidal" variety, but theirs is still the best wing sauce I've ever stumbled across. -
That is just nice. All of it, food and your thoughts.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

Lovely post, Anne. The food prepared with love is the best, as you know, and those wings look extra special since they were made for your recovering friend.
It looks like it was a lovely day there, and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

It is a restaurant franchise through the Ohios. Neat places and an atomic sauce that will wake up the taste buds.

Steven,
It's where all the bikers hang out in Pinellas Park.
I would go there to check out the sauce if you say it's good...

What a perfect spring day! Wings look fabulous, great job.
-
Faith,
Sorry, I keep dropping off the internet tonight. I answered your other post but it died. The wings are fried but their sauces are good. It's a Nascar/Grande Prix based theme. They started on the OH/PA area. Their atomic sauce is about as hot as I can take without sufferring a little.
