New to having a BGE, recommendations (links) would be grateful on instant read thermometers.
Was cooking last night and using my old school dial thermometer, definitely not going to cut it.
Willing to spend $50-$150 on something good and that's going to last a while.
Thanks for the help.

Thermapen by Thermoworks

Appreciate it. Seems to be the most common brand I see people talking about. The classic or Mk4? Doesn't look like a huge difference.

Thermopen. I have the classic, but I'd get the new one if I were you.
Timestick trio would be another valuable purchase from them.

I just replaced an old and beat up thermapen with a MK4 and it is very nice. I especially love the automatic back light and the angle changing readout. My old pen did not have these features.
I also have a Thermopop and like it very much but I use it mostly for indoor cooking. It is much cheaper than a Thermapen and would be sufficient for most people.

I got the Javelin Pro (http://lavatools.co/products/javelin-pro?variant=4068709701) on sale for $46 shipped a while back and really like it. They have a 3 year warranty vs 2 year for Thermapen.

I also have the Javelin Pro and I really like it. It reads in 3-4 seconds and it is backlit. I would buy it again.

Yup, @blasting, thermapen is so overrated

I'd get the classic, unless you are half blind or do all your cooking in the dark. The point is to get a good temperature reading and it does that as well as the new one.Dave - Austin, TX
