The Canucks Are Hiding A Good Thing!

Currently I'm not far from the Blue Water Bridge to Sarnia, Ontario. I figured I would cross the border and grab some bags of Maple Leaf lump. Little Steven turned me on to it a couple of years ago. Anyway, I can't find it anywhere I web search. It's a damn shame, because that's some sweet lump. I figure the Canucks are hoarding it! Maybe next time.

I've got a butt over basque(sp?) sugar maple right now. Smells pretty neutral.

@stemc33 beat me to it. Here's what Firecraft has for maple lump:
Basques Sugar Maple Lump Charcoal - May be different than "Maple Leaf" but now that I have to resort to fire craft for Rockwood I will toss in a bag and see how it goes. FWIW-
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
Search for a Home Hardware store, that's the brand they carry. Basque's is good as well.____________________Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage. •Niccolo Machiavelli

I think ML and Basques are both from Quebec. Also check if there's a Lowe's or Rona. Good luckcanuckland

I keep hoping that someone up here might start to carry the Maple Leaf lump at some point, but so far no luck.

Plus 1 to Home Hardware. There has to be one in Sarnia. It is awesome lump, no question.Mt Elgin Ontario - just a Large.

The $US goes further in Canada now we have a $0.75US Loonie. Local buyer at Lowes here in New Westminster tells me that Basques has gone to $19.99 CDN for a 8Kg bag. They are selling everything they can in the US due to the stronger greenback.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad! -
Maple Leaf is 17.99 a bag here in London, I live an hour east of Sarnia. I grew up in Sarnia and its a cool place, I miss the waterfront views with Lake Huron leading into the St. Clair river.Large BGE 2011, XL BGE 2015, Mini Max 2015, and member of the "North of the Border Smokin Squad" Canadian Outdoor Chef from London, Ontario, Canada

Dunno where you are at Lou but Costco sometimes has Basques in the States. Probably in the spring but it's cheap when they have it. Pretty neutral and not as good as Maple Leaf but its good lump.Steve

Fortunately for me I know where I am ( ) although that knowledge is slipping away at a good pace on a Saturday- and there is a Costco close by. I always buy their prime packer briskets (+1 for them) but lump charcoal runs undetected. I have always wanted to give any maple lump a go so now that I am going to deal with fire craft it's a given.
Thanks for the heads-up.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
Fortunately for me I know where I am ( ). Hahaha. I'm right with ya bro. Sorry but my smileys don't work and I'm not computer literate enough to do them with the punctuation marks.

I looked at FireCraft and they carry Basques as well as Rockwood. I really like Rockwood and it has a better rating on Naked Whiz than Basques. I just wanted some Maple Leaf since I found myself this morning in the shadow of the Blue Water Bridge to the GWN. It's kinda like Cuban cigars. They're more desirable because you can't get them in the States. I still suspect there's some hoarding going on.Flint, Michigan

I wouldn't go by anything the naked know it all says about Cdn. lump Freddie. He reviewed Maple Leaf and said it was "the best ever" and then downgraded it because it wasn't available in the US. I guess that affects the quality somehow.Steve

Sarnia's Rona said they don't have any Maple Leaf. I think it's all part of the "Hoarding Conspiracy".Flint, Michigan
