Public Grill in Germany

Options
I was in Germany  awhile back and came across this grill in a public park, totally forgot about it until I was looking through some photos recently and decided to share it to all you enthusiasts.  It had a hand crank winch to raise and lower the grill. Pretty cool design I thought.

    That's slick.

Very cool to have that in a public park! I think its a "swinging grill" which are apparently popular in Germany.

My grandmother's tattoo from Auschwitz says that's not a funny joke.  I don't think the attempted extinction of an entire race of people is something to joke about.  Just my two cents.

Those are pretty cool grills. I remember seeing them while I was there. They did swing them around when they weren't flipping or pulling food off.

Well...there have been a lot of Jewish comedians over the decades that would disagree. Though in more recent years the public outrage machine has gotten louder about criticizing those kind of jokes.

I thought the late, great, Jewish comedian Joan Rivers' holocaust joke a couple of years ago was pretty damn funny. She did catch a lot of grief from the usual crowd but to her credit she refused to apologize for it.

As another famous Jewish comedian - Bette Midler -  used to say when some of her material would get hit by the outrage machine: "Fu?k'em if they can't take a joke!".

Don't recall if the "Divine Miss M" ever made any Holocaust jokes offhand - have to look that up.

Anyway, it's understandable that some may find that sort of humor to be off limits.

Germans can grill and we can learn a lot from them about grilling. And sausage. And beer. I'd go back in a second. Some pictures from 3 years ago.

I mean I don't know if any of them had to listen to their grandmother tell them about how 17 members of her family were killed at the concentration camp they were in, but you're right it's hilarious.

Germans have a great grill culture.  It's too bad that @Don_Marco and BGE had a falling out.
