Welcome. Don't have a table anymore - but do make sure you have some workspace on both sides of the egg. Some put the egg in the middle, others more to one side. Choose wisely.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

Welcome! For the table, it's all preference. The AR opens up more cooking options. I think it's worth it from the start, but the platesetter is fine. It's up to you.
I would get a thermapen before an AR.Ball Ground, GA

Not a fan of the table. Have two Larges that can roam around ( please get a Handler if moving around) the deck, worked better for me. Have a SS table to work off on wheels that the Mini sits on.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

Thanks. I have read about the fire issues in previous threads. Mine will be on a concrete pad away from the house and if I make the hole with more than adequate clearance I'm hoping it will be safe. Still plan to wrap the table legs with aluminum or similar to keep the mice from crawling up onto the table. togXL- AR Lethbridge County, Alberta

I love my platesetter, use it for 95 percent of my cooks, but I also plan to get an AR because you cant have enough tools for the egg.Oh and by the way, Welcome and stock up on Budweiser.

Welcome. +1 on what @Chris_Wang said in regards to Thermapen. I just got mine and wish I would've got one from the gitgo vs wasting $ on other inaccurate knockoffs. In regard to the table I like the SS idea best but,my LBGE hails in a nest and like the mobility it allows me (to each their own). And FWIW I like my p.s. and use on low and slows, pizza, baking etc. But, an AR is also on my list. I use my homemade raised grid and at this point I can't justify purchasing AR. I'll get a pit controller for my next purchase.

Welcome. I am still using the nest my XL came with and am thinking of just building and outdoor kitchen around it or put a table on each side. I like having room on both sides because you can have things close and it gives you more storage. I am right handed and iv my table had to be on ond side I would want it to the right. That's just how my brain works and feels comfortable. If you are left handed I would think it would be more comfortable, but it would be pretty easy to switch if built right. Good luck and welcome again.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo.

Thermapen and AR for starting. The rest is fluff...
Enjoy it and welcome!Beaufort, SC -
Welcome to the cult!!!
Get a Thermapen first and I love my PS and I also have the AR. PS for baking and pizzas. I love and use the AR all the time when I need raised grid and multiple levels. If I could only have one it would be PS.....
I have 5 eggs and all but the Mini are in a nest. I like the ability to move them around when I want to as I have always had the space to do so. I'm thinking of building an outdoor kitchen at our NC home and then the Eggs will have a permanent place to stay. It's a very personal choice but I have moved the egg many times so the wind did not blow the smoke where the guest were sitting or so it blew the smoke away from the house with open windows same when camping.

theoldguy... The Thermopen is a bit pricy, but a necessity.
Go to http://www.thermoworks.com and create an account. They occasionally offer specials on open box returns or refurbish units at a discounted price & full warranty. I saved $25 on a open box backlit thermopen. Looks factory fresh!
