Chicken Pot Pie
Came home from work yesturday and low and behold the town is dark. Parked outside as the garage door wouldn't open. Get out go inside, pull the cord, raise the door, pull in, shut the door, relatch the belt and grab a couple flashlights. My wife was just finishing up making the insides of her chicken pot pie. No problem I'll go light the egg. Stablized at 425 indirect with a chunk of leftover wood from ribs and in goes the pie.
Got some candles going and a lantern so we could play hungry hungry hippos until dinner was done. Boys were crazy wild about the power being off and just couldn't believe it could happen. Took about 35 - 40 minutes to cook and then eat.
Marie Callender ain't got nothing on my wife, this thing was amazing! Power came back on couple hours later and all is good in the world again.

Sounds like an awesome night!

@theyolksonyou - I will see if i can get the recipe she found. Try one as it's supper easy and pie crust is puff pastry. Of course it's better cooked on the egg with just a hint of smokeyness.

@Froman - sometimes the lights going out is a blessing in disguise. Then other times it's a real pain becuase you have lots to do before company arrives.

@Dyal_SC - Thanks! Only thing she cheated on was the crust and it's tuff to beat philsbury on a week night.

You're not limited to chicken. Unfortunately your pics aren't opening for me, but it sounds like you and the wife did a good job.

@cazzy ... thanks for the info. Will have to get out the tap measure and do some checking. Wish someone would make a 12 inch CI pie pan. For a large egg, that would be perfect.

True but the 12" pan works perfect. I've used it for pan pizza too...several timesJeepster47 said:@cazzy ... thanks for the info. Will have to get out the tap measure and do some checking. Wish someone would make a 12 inch CI pie pan. For a large egg, that would be perfect.
