So, I've had my LBGE for 2 weeks now and I've done 6-7 "alleged" cooks (no pics) while awaiting the coveted promotion from applicant to member. In the meantime, I've been lurking on the forum and I'm very impressed with the willingness to share and help and the general sense of community here.
Without further ado, here is my first official cook.
Set up: Direct
Fuel: FOGO
Smoke: none
I don't have a CI grid as yet, so "dance with who brung ya." I used a skillet. My sorry Labrador was cruisin' for scraps. (unsuccessfully).
I picked these up at the local butcher and marinaded in Worcestershire sauce and Monterey Steak seasoning for a couple of hours.
Volcano mode
90 sec on each side
I expected to get more char.
Back on the egg @ 400 ish for after 20 min. rest. 5 min each side and we get...
Served with sautéed mushrooms with butter and s&p.
That there is what we in the Deep South call "good eatin!"

Welcome. Great steak cook. When I sear in CI I'll go 3-4 min per side for the sear, then finish in the CI to the temp I want. That's for a 2 inch filet. Great sear every time.__________________________________________It's not a science, it's an art. And it's flawed.- Camp Hill, PA

@dobie thanks @tjcoley will definitely go longer in the CI next time (there will be a next time) @Yemtrey judging from you avi, you have a connection to this great state of mine. Thanks to all for the kind words. I'm having a great time learning to cook on this thing. The food like something else in life, the worst I've had is still really good.

@gator_egger thanks, the table didn't turn out eggzactly like I wanted, but I'm very pleased with it. Plus I got to spend some time with my dad to build. He's is an amazing carpenter.
