Hey just trying to throw a quick dinner together and got some kernel off of the cob frozen sweet corn. Vent the bag and drop in boiling water for a bit?
I raise my kids, cook and golf. When work gets in the way I'm pissed, I'm pissed off 48 weeks a year.
Inbetween Iowa and Colorado, not close to anything remotely entertaining outside of football season.

That or vent and zap it.

Any guess on time for either method @Eggcelsior? Never have frozen fresh corn before and had a craving for it with my steak and mashed taters tonight.I raise my kids, cook and golf. Do you have a steamer? That's usually what I'll use for frozen vegetables.middle of nowhere- G.I. NE

The microwave will steam the corn so I'd go 2-3 minutes and check. You could even poke a bunch of holes in the bag and steam the corn in a pot of shallow water if you have a steam tray.

I saute in butter and a little bacon grease and then hit it with a little buttermilk, salt, and pepper and simmer for 5 minutes.

Thank you all, I now can reheat/cook frozen corn with confidence.Hood Stars, Wrist Crowns and Obsession Dobs!

Shoot I put up a lot of sweetcorn every summer. I blanch it then cut it off the cob and freeze. Thawing and then cooking tastes just like it was picked that day. Don't underestimate frozen corn! Good stuff if it doesnt come with a big green giant on the package.

I agree with @Biggreenpharmacist. I do it a little different but it all turns out the same. I cut it off the cob and blanch in a butter/sugar/water combo and just cook the juices out over a burner.NW IOWA

Sweet corn doesn't even need to be cooked. But it can easily be overcooked. Hell, it's the most forgiving veg there is as long as it's fresh.______________________________________________I love lamp..

To reheat frozen corn on the cob I have blanched and frozen, I bring my water to a boil, drop the corn in(out of the bag), and remove the pot from the burner. After about 10 mins it's ready to eat.

If you eat too much raw corn you will hate life and your stomach and colon will agree.nolaegghead said:Sweet corn doesn't even need to be cooked. But it can easily be overcooked. Hell, it's the most forgiving veg there is as long as it's fresh.

We just pop the bag directly from the freezer into boiling water until done. Once finished, you can swirl in a bit of butter, salt and pepper.

So you eat it raw and extra crunchy? I was saying I vac seal in raw state not blanched. Why did you disagree? When in season freezing in raw/fresh and then egging it or whatever is available when it's out of season.nolaegghead said:Sweet corn doesn't even need to be cooked. But it can easily be overcooked. @NPHuskerFL i've always blanched mine. Supposedly it breaks down the enzymes in the corn and keep it from degrading and changing texture while its freezing/frozen.

@nolaegghead & @Biggreenpharmacist I guess that was my question. I've never blanched before freezing. I cut the end off, leave the husk on and vac save. When I cook them they taste very fresh. Is blanching going to give me better results?LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

I can't really say. I've frozen in the husk before, but quite frankly I keep so much beef and pork and deer in the freezer I don't have room to spare for a bunch of corn on the cob. In my research of freezing corn, blanching is supposed to retain texture, color, and nutrients while its frozen. I always blanch mine, then cut off the cob and freeze in plastic containers. It stays crisp but if I wanna cook on egg it has to be in cast iron. I honestly have never done a side by side comparison of in the husk vs blanched and cut, but my cut corn always tastes as fresh and crunchy as the day its picked.
