Stoker: Is this really slow or is it just me?

Got a stoker for my BGE and I find it extraordinarily slow to access the web interface. Occasionally, my browser will time out or even, stokerlog, will error out. Is this just my unit? Or is this common? Anyway I can increase the speed?

Wish I could help my friend. But I'm stuck in the past and still do everything manual. I'm sure someone can point you in the right direction. Good luck my friend.

Common if no activity but, it doesn't affect Stoker performance (only the Log). You should just have to refresh on the log. Also when I use mine I have it on Stoker Log on PC and monitor on my phone. Or you can just use the Stoker itself. Another option is to call Rock's BBQ tech support tomorrow during normal business hours or go to their web site for FAQ.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Turn the stoker on in the same room as your computer. If it connects faster then your network is weak at the egg location. If that is the problem get a WiFi extender.I had the same problem with the StokerLog dropping out. I shut down my router & started it back up & things have been fine ever since.

The web interface is slow. I use Stoker X app on my Mac.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

Something else to keep in mind. The Stoker, as well as the BBQ Guru CyberQ are 802.11b only. You might want to get an wireless AP dedicated to the Stoker that isn't competing with and slowing down the rest of your wireless devices. If I ever get one, that's what I will do. Hard wire the AP to your router and only configure the Stoker to connect to it. This will also allow you to place it as close as possible to your Egg/Stoker. Set it up on a dedicated SSID and channel that is different from your other WLAN. Keep in mind with 2.4Ghz WLAN there are only 3 non-overlapping channels (1,6,11). Also, if you have close neighbors that have WLANs on interfering channels with yours that can cause problems.Man I hate WLAN, wish everything could be hardwired...They/Them

Seems like the Stoker has a slower CPU, so this is usual. It works and I still love it so much that I got one for my Brother-in-Law. Just wish I could drop in a Core i7

Bandwidth will be the determining factor. So like @DMW suggested hardwired is always better. In my application and setup to hardwire would be a royal PITA. The WiFi hasn't given me any issue except when we have 3-4 laptops streaming, multiple phones, iPads, our thermostat and the Stoker then it'll lag for obvious reasons. But, the Stoker keeps on keeping on (it only lags on the log data the unit keeps everything where it is set). I'm very happy with the Stoker.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

True, bandwidth is a factor. I don't think the Stoker uses much though. A simple html web page and I can't imagine it generates much data. WiFi shouldn't be problematic for this....assuming you have a decent broadband connection. I have 30 devices on my network at any given point and time and can achieve 20 Mpbs download fairly consistently. Exception is when we are downloading a movie or some other large file.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html
