What kind of music do you listen to while you cook?

NecessaryIndulg posted an interesting question on her facebook thread asking what kind of music do you like? It got me thinking about what music I like to listen too while I am cooking-

I cut my culinary teeth watching the Great Chef's TV series in the late 80's and early 90's. They played Charlie Byrd music and to this day, when I get into the zen of cooking I hear the jazzy guitar playing in my head as I prep my mis en place.

These days, the music I listen to while cooking varies, but I do like live, jazzy sounding riff's, especially if someone is playing the vibes.

So- what kind of music do you like to listen to when you are getting your prep on?

Depends on what I'm cooking and the time of day. My music reads just like the schedule of a pork shoulder cook.

It's weird at my house I either play old punk (social distortion the ramones etc.) or outlaw country (Johnny cash willey Nelson, Waylon Jennings etc) while I cook. My wife likes to play "house music" while we eat. Says its the cool thing to do in NYC. I think it's so we can listen to her music for a bit.

So much win! Minus the "house music". I could never get into that part of electronica. Or any Country music that is post-Garth. It will be a very said day when George, Merle, and Willie die...

Is Okemos Brewing like the Okemo Ski Resort? I skied there as a kid and will check out the stream regardless!

Okemos Brewing is a micro brewery/restaurant in Okemos Michigan. They program all of the music played in the restaurant and stream it. Their mix is mostly oldies rock, but very deep cuts.

Either KLOVE radio, need to breathe or tenth avenue north. I just got my ihome working good so I can use pandora while I'm cooking. Nothing but contemporary Christian for me.

Buble. There are much better Canuck choices than Michael. The Hip, Colin James Band, Jeff Healy, Blue Rodeo, Billy Talent, Great Big Sea, Barenaked Ladies and Shania Twain for just a few.

Guess I'm a weird one. Music runs in my family. I may be listening to Slayer, Conway Twitty, Skynyrd, Dokken, who knows. Depends on the day. Just found this band called Blackberry Smoke, awesome stuff. Good ol Southern Rock. They will be here in Dallas in March at HOB. All over it. The only stuff I cant handle is this new crap they call "country" and classical music.

I kinda fall into a similar camp as @U_tarded . Love old punk, but also some of the 80's and 90's stuff like Rancid, NoFX and Pennywise. Ska bancs. Most stuff off of Hellcat Records. But also appreciate Outlaw Country, Texas Country and Red Dirt. Nashville can keep their crap.

Haven't been listening to much music lately when we cook. The Eggs are right outside our living room door and their is usually some game on and we can sit outside and watch it and hear it from the patio.
