I need help!
When I close the lid the top of the Egg at the front comes down about half an inch behind the front.
I still get a seal but it looks ugly and it is dislodging the gasket at the back.
How do I adjust it to get it even?
Any help appreciated.

Thanks for that.
But the problem is that it is already assembled and the side bolts are bent so I can't take it apart again.
I was hoping there was some easy adjustment I could do. -

You should be able to loosen the screw even if they're bent. If you can't, and they break, buy new bolts.

there appear to be quite a number of us with newer eggs who are having this issue - not a coincidence methinks...

It's actually most common with new eggs. The bands expand and contract until they are "seasoned"'for lack of a better word. When they expand they slip and then they contract in the wrong spot causing misalignment. This is really a very simple band adjustment and should settle in after doing this once or twice.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

Mine did this as well, and just as John said, it is a break in period with the metal bands. Mine have not done it since the first major malfunction. (while at 1000 degrees and a pizza in the egg the bands came out of alignment and I couldn't open the egg.)

My Egg just won't move like the one in the video. It moves a little bit but nothing like that guy. Amazing customization on his Egg too.timekpr1 said:Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

OziEgg I would check the hinge hardware too, make sure nothing looks funky

The ceramics fluctuate in size. Smaller domes on top of slightly larger bases (1/4") can cause this problem. The hinge will pull the two parts together in the back of the Egg, which leaves a small difference in the front. It does not affect the way the cooker functions. A good seal is far more important to the overall performance in the cooker. JMHO

Thanks 4runner.
That video helped a bit but it is already as far forward as the hinge will go.
I am going to buy some spacers and put them on the top bolts.
That should do the job.
Thanks again.
