After 15 years of egging on a LBGE, I gave it to my son and bought an XL. He gets the LBGE and a ton of accessories including BGE table and in return he is going to make me a table for the XL.
Picking it up Friday morning and Friday night is our pizza night.
Now I have to start accumulating XL toys.

Welcome to the XL family

Wow, nice gift for your son, and a nice way for him to pay you back. I'd also be curious to hear your comparison after owning the XL for a while.
-
What a great daddy you are! Do you have a design all picked out for the XL table?
-
@ Duganboy-great trade-up. Win-win all around. Enjoy the new learning curve with the XL and the fun of a whole new set of toys!Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

I've cooked on both. They are very different. My xl takes much bigger adjustments. They are both very easy to use, just different. The Cen-Tex Smoker said:Nice! I'm curious as to what you think about the difference. have been thinking the same thing
Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here. -

I just added an XL to go along with my Large. I can't wait to use it. My new DigiQ DX2 is scheduled for delivery today. I have a feeling it's going to be a busy weekend on the Egg(s).

While his experience will be different than mine, I have an XL and a Large, and if I were pushed to one I think the XL is more versatile, if for no other reason that the large cook space makes it easy to have both direct and indirect.
XXL #82 out of the first 100, XLGE X 2, LBGE (gave this one to daughter 1.0) , MBGE (now in the hands of iloveagoodyoke daughter 2.0) and lots of toys -
What's a demo XL go for?

Thanks for all the comments. I smoked some St. Louis ribs for my son last Saturday and his guests were telling him how good they were. He just smiled and said "thanks". He has a Bradley Smoker and he said his just didn't taste as good.I thought I would pay the experience forward.@njl sent you a pm

You know kids, they never go off scholarship!!!!! He has never even cooked on a charcoal grill, so he is going to have a learning curve that is going to be fun to wath. -
He sounds like me, but, I didn't get someone to give me theirs! Honestly I love that you shared what you love with your son! Great stuff!
