Just curious if the masses use the BGE for cooking french fries and what methods you use to do it. I was thinking maybe a wok with a little oil in it...not sure. open to ideas.

I have seen post of people frying shrimp on the BGE, so i would think fries could be done. Not sure the point of wasting all that lump to make French Fries though.

Using it indirect and baking them.

I've done this and it's great._______________________________________________XLBGE -
Hmm... Cut potatoes. Blanch in ice water for starch. Dry. Put in oil at 325. Take out get up to 375 add back for second frying. Sure it's been done. Guess if you did a small enough batch in wok or a container with more depth. My only concern would be the fire hazard. Lots of oil dripping. Pay attention to the flash point temp of the oil you choose. That being said if you do it hope you post pics

I did these oysters and shrimp on the Mini with a mini wok. No reason frys will not work as well
Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers. -
I cook these and onion rings for my boys all the time. I use peanut oil and a large cast iron skillet and they are FANTASTIC!
temps like newportlocal says and I rig a stick to keep the lid at about 4" open. Be careful when you open the lid and with your fire, it can get hot really fast!
