Divide & Conquer System in Large BGE

Can anyone confirm that they have fit a KJ Divide and Conquer rack into their Large Egg? I picked one up today and the rack does not fit easily into my Egg. I'm not sure now whether it's something about my Egg in particular, manufacturing variance in the KJ Rack that I bought, or whether in general the D&C rack simply does not fit into the BGE.

@Biggreencraig has one I think....

I use one in my XL. The flexibility is impressive. I'm unsure if the Large model will fit. I wonder if @Bosco would know...

your fitting problem is not unique on the large egg, legs don't fit inside the fire ring.
On the xl egg, one leg will sit over the platesetter notch. makes it a little wobbly.

Thanks for the comments. I hope the store takes the pieces back. I really like the ability to do half indirect.

Thanks - what brand of half grates and stones. Do you know if the KJ half stone, grates, etc., work with the AR? It would at least also require the Spider, wouldn't it?
-
I believe the diameter of the KJ is slightly larger, so maybe that is the reason? I have been curious if this would work as well. Ceramic grill store is very expensive for me to ship to CanadaLarge BGEBBQ Guru DigiQ IIMartensville, Saskatchewan Canada

I have been thinking of ways to attempt split zone cooking on my LBGE for a while. This looks intriguing.

I have been thinking of cutting the oval stone of my AR R&B combo - use the half stone to create a direct zone and an indirect zone for the same cook. Thinking of cutting it in half vs. 1/3rd + 2/3rd.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

@Big_Green_Craig can you tell me where you got the system for the xl. I've contacted KJ and have not been able to get an answer.XL BGE, KJ classic, Joe Jr, UDS x2

If you want to do half indirect, the half moon stone works well. I use it to do reverse sear steaks indirect and veggies direct.

Do you just rest the half stone on the fire ring? I would find a convenient half indirect setup capable of being used at multiple levels incredibly useful. It's odd that there isn't a clear and easy solution for this on the BGE.

The only thing I don't like is that it does not raise the cooking grate level higher in the dome like some of the other products.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
someone is Hamilton ON is selling an XL for $900, go for it, it's easier to divide and conquer than a large
