Mistake # 1

I was able to get off work early today to enjoy my daughter's tennis match. Play finished quickly: don't ask the score. But I will tell you it was her second loss of the season.
Wanting some BBQ chicken, I decided I would take the time to get the grill going and the time to cook some chicken. Well I let the the thing get away from me, and it was glowing red HOT! Mistake # 1
Mistake # 2, I was not willing to take the time to let it cool down good. After I got it back to 600 degrees, I put the chicken on the grill direct. It is smoking and spewing like crazy. I thought I would just close off the vents, but I have no gasket on right now so it is still taking some air in.
I am gonna get the thermometer and pull it at 160ish. Please pray for my chicken. I think we are gonna need it.

bet it will be your best one yet

We've prayed for Spring Chicken, so I suppose we can pray for Renee's chicken, right gang?
The chicken may come out just fine, as Julie said. There are quite a few people who swear by roasting chicken at 500 degrees.
Keep us posted. -
Given the super high temps, get the little chicky on a raised grid and put a pan of water under it. More space between lump & pan and pan & chicky, the better. The water will catch the fat drippings and reduce your smoke problem, just keep an eye on the water level, you may not get crispy skin but the bird will moist ..................... not that I'm speaking from experience or anything........twww.ceramicgrillstore.com ACGP, Inc.

I'm sure it's too late now but if that ever happens again you can toss in a cold platesetter and the dome temp will drop to about 400 INSTANTLY. That's the way I TREX steaks.

I bet if you keep a close eye on that yard bird, it will be just fine. Don't do like my Daddy, put it on and then go on to something else. You want to talk about ADHD... Lol

I did exactly as dad would have done. Edible is the best that could be said.

Encourager you are! Fortunately, that EGG has turned out some really great chicken. This one was just edible.

Thanks for trying!

These were great ideas. I had already put the grill on to let it burn clean while heating up. I didn't dare move it. Perhaps I should get an extra so I can pull these tricks out next time. Thanks for the incite.

Sorry, but glad they were edible... Those are actually fond memories of my Daddy cooking (he is still around, just not cooking anymore) putting chicken on, moving on to his next task, me seeing the bellowing smoke and trying to save the chicken. Let's just say we ate everything well done... Lol

So, Hoss...do you pull out the platesetter once the temperature drops, to finish the steaks?
