Wheel Axle Question

Greetings Eggers. I have built a table with TNW's plans and am ready to add two tires to one end.

I have the 5/8" threaded rod and the wheels, along with mounting hardware. However, I am struggling with two options on how to mount the wheels.

1) I can run the rod the entire depth of the table and simply fasten on either end. So you will see the "axle" between the two legs.

2) I can cut the rod down to size and fasten the wheel on either side of the leg. Each leg will then have an individual "axle" measuring approx. 8".

I'm thinking that perhaps one may be more stable than the other? Option 2 will leave more clearance between the legs when moving on uneven ground.

Any thoughts or suggestions on my choice would be appreciated.

I promise to post pictures of the table when complete. Thanks.
