Rehabbing a $125 Egg

I'm the guy who asked earlier for advice about getting a large BGE into a Prius. It all worked out. For $125, I got the base & lid of what I think is a large BGE, rusty ash door, rusty hinge & bands, fire rings in two diameters (one is broken into two usable pieces), larger and smaller metal grill, ceramic ash grate, ceramic lid cap.
Here's a link to some photos:

No thermometer or iron daisy wheel cap.
I think the firebox is missing, although I do have two fire rings (one is split in two).
I would like to repaint the whole thing at some point and, if appropriate, fill the crack in the lid.
Do I indeed need a "firebox" and where do I get one cheap? What else would you do to this puppy, in order of priority? I'll probably upgrade just a little at a time.
Thanks for any & all help.
Steve

Looks like a egg. I'm kind of on the same process. Bought a egg for $200 off Craigslist. Needs a new stainless steel draft door and the band repainted. I was told the older egg didn't come with the daisy wheel. It was a extra you had to buy with the egg purchase. So mine as well didn't have the daisy wheel. Should be good when your all done. I don't know where to get a used firebox you may have to spring for a new one. Hell that's cheap enough. Have fun. Tim

hasn't someone on the forum rehabbed an old egg before?
-
Jason:
Thanks for the bumps!
I just reposted my link to the photos, with the goal of seeing if someone can tell me if it is indeed an Egg. I've had a couple of different opinions on that.
My dealer is placing his bi-weekly BGE order tomorrow, and I'm only going to spend $140 on a new firebox if this is a BGE and not just an old clay kamado.

Jason,
Richard FLA did one but he uses it for low cooks only. Over the years there have been a couple of others but I can't remember who.

How to tell if it's ceramic or clay?

You may want to post this again and here is how to post a pic from Picasa.
I use Picasa to post my photos. I upload my photos to a web album. when I click on a photo there is a notation on the right hand side "link to this photo". I click on this, then click image only, pick a size [usually large], copy the embedded image path, then put it in the image link here on the forum. -
Update from the OP:
Thanks for the help everybody.
I did send the pictures to the company, and got a response saying it looked like an old BGE that was indeed made of fire clay. Not made to cook above 400. You folks were right.
So for my needs, it's not worth the effort. I will re-sell it (with full disclosure).
Thanks again.

Steve, I gather you are saying BGE told you the egg you have is not made to cook over 400 degrees. Did they say what time frame these eggs were made? What years? Will a new fire box and fire ring go int it?
Thanks Tim -
Tim:
Sorry, I didn't get any of those other details from the company.
