I'm lucky I didn't burn my freakin' house down! I didn't listen.....concrete paver (not a broken plate setter) and egg feet are a must. I came outside to find my table (not my egg) smoking like crazy. I figure I had another 30 minutes before disaster

Sure hope everyone (without da feet) pays attention. -
Bummer.
You should be looking at this as glass 99/100th full. Out of all the permutations of potential outcomes, this is a pretty good one - relatively speaking of course. -
Chris,
Glad to see no *major* damage done. Bullet dodged, consider yourself lucky. -
 AWWW MAN! You are WAY lucky.Glad it was no worse!

That's how my dealer originally set mine up. Egg in the BGE table, no paver, only feet. I asked for them to return to set the paver under it, and still use the feet. I wish they'd be instructed to do it with the paver. I trusted them to know what they were doing and to keep me safe. So glad someone in this forum set me right. Hopefully this message will get out to others.

Holy crap Chris... :S
Glad you caught it before it got worse... -
Go buy a lotery (?spelling) ticket today, you are a lucky guy...Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

Dang. My heart just fluttered.
Glad you didn't have high winds or even a few more minutes unattended! It sure happens fast.
As said below, could be a good day for that lotto ticket!
Glad it all worked out.

Hey Frank, yep we remember yall! Hope to see you there again this year!
I really do hope people will take a look at their set up when they see this post... -
glad that's all the damage you have and you got there in time!
how did that happen??? the platesetter got hot enough to light the wood??? -
Hey jason,
yep, I had an old broken plate setter under the egg, no feet, and it torched the wood. Weird thing is,temp was low (butts), but it was 6 hrs into the cook. But, the kings horses and a friend of mine just got my egg table back together again... -
I'm like you Chris. If I wasn't refinishing my table it would have been like yours.
Use the feet people -
Damn Chris  Glad that you caught it in time brotha That's some scary chit mang :pinch:
-
