Dave - I've had two Eggs for over three years now and use one or the other at least 4-5 times per week.
I have actually lost and kept off about 5# since. I'm 5'-10 and weigh 155#.
Don't be so concerned about weight. Most of us only get to go around once, and if you can't enjoy your trip thru, then why bother? -
Hi Dave,
The max I've done is 4x8.5lb butts on both Lg BGEs I have... That is a combined ~68lbs of pork butt on two eggs. You could get more - here's a pic...
Oh and if you were talking about how much weight you put on yourself...uhh...well you can cook healthy "most" of the time.
Enjoy!!! -
Who says you have to gain? Fish, shrimp, chicken, veggies: it's not all greasy pork butts and beans made with pie filling (unless you want it to be...)
-
That is funny, sad and maybe true. If you're not careful dozens...
Personally I lost over 45 pounds after getting my large in 2008 because I also started a exercise and modified my diet during the week to allow for 2-3 meals a week on the egg, mostly on the weekends. So, it IS possible to go full throttle with this thing and maintain your weight, it just takes some adjustments or you are assured to pack it on if you become addicted like most of us egg heads.Visit my blog, dedicated to my Big Green Egg Recipies at http://www.bigtsbge.blogspot.com You can also follow my posts on FaceBook under the name Keep On Eggin' or the link http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Keep-On-Eggin/198049930216241 -
Since I've had my eggs, I've gone from 243 lbs to 198. Only 10 more pounds to go!
-
That's impressive. I'm about 175 or so at 5'8". I guess I may need to get on the bike a little. Does the Harley count. :P :laugh:Dave San Jose, CA The Duke of Loney

Stayin' away from Smitty's will help Dave!!I spent most of my money on good bourbon, and bad women...the rest, I just wasted!!
-
Its just that the food on the egg is so good. We use it all the time. We love seafood and vegitbles. I'll keep it off.Dave San Jose, CA The Duke of Loney

I have actually lost weight also, and I spend much less eating out. Much more healthy anyway you look at it :cheer:

From my experience I have devised a formula that seems to be relatively accurate. Total the weight of the Eggs that you own and multiply by 1.75 for the first year and then 0.25 for the remaining years of ownership. Hope this helps. :woohoo:
-
capt frank is right, we seldom eat out anymore unless it is for sushi, which i haven't perfected on the egg (yet). Eating out WILL kill you for sure.Visit my blog, dedicated to my Big Green Egg Recipies at http://www.bigtsbge.blogspot.com You can also follow my posts on FaceBook under the name Keep On Eggin' or the link http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Keep-On-Eggin/198049930216241

Seriously I do better than that... Last few cooks on mine have been low salt and generally low fat - spatchcock Chicken (healthy), Salmon (healthy - twice), Lobster, flank steak (lean), sweet potato's (healthy), asparagus (healthy). I also use a wok which is fairly good.
Though don't get me wrong, I do have the occasional thick cut ribeye or ribs..It's all about moderation and excercise...
Take care!! -
Now that sheds a new light onto the subject. I always did like math.Dave San Jose, CA The Duke of Loney

My doc just had me double by statin meds
-
You know you are correct. We don't eat out as much AND the wife (boss) doesn't mind. That's a good thing. :silly:Dave San Jose, CA The Duke of Loney

Not sure what those are. :S :huh:Dave San Jose, CA The Duke of Loney

Just remember the most important recipe 4
mg Lipitor and 3 ribs mix well -
I'm 5'8 and 225 pounds I could stand to lose a few pounds myself.
I'm going to quit procrastinating tomorrow! :woohoo: -
statins keep chloresterol levels down. Most of my egg cooks involved fatty meats  best kind though.
actually my dad had bypass surgery so doc is just being overly cautious. I am using the lowest level of statin. -
-
I'm ok there but when I got on a scale the Dr said I was a litle overweight...so I tookout my wallet, keys, cell phone and boots and I was JUST right.Dave San Jose, CA The Duke of Loney

I'm in agreement with everyone else. I've lost almost 25# this last year and more than paid for my Egg by not going out to eat.
-
It depends what you cook.
