Sunday burgers on home baked bread

Yesterday I decided to throw a few burgers on the BGE, and I baked my first loaf of home baked bread on the egg to go along with them. You can check out the details of the bread here: http://www.eggheadforum.com/index.php?option=com_simpleboard&func=view&id=856500&catid=1
Anyway, the burgers were pretty simple, although I did try something new. I decided to see how burgers would come out using pretty lean ground beef to avoid getting the bread overly soggy. Used some 90/10, and mixed in a little worcestershire sauce, sea salt, black pepper, & Texas Gunpowder, as I usually like to keep my burgers pretty basic.
While the burgers weren't dripping wet like they often are, they were pretty moist in the middle and I'd actually prefer them like this since they aren't so sloppy to eat. Also, that home baked bread brushed with just a little EVOO toasted up very nicely on the egg!

BTW, those were 1/2 pound pattys and cooked to perfection in the center without overcooking on the outside. The thermapen sure is a handy tool.

I remember how difficult it often is without the thermapen, as I've only had mine for about 3 months, which is longer than I've had the egg. I even used it to check doneness on the bread! -
Kenny a while back on the travel channel they did a show on burger places and one up north with over a 100 years’(?) operating did burgers with toasted bread (not buns).
Tried that and found I much preferred the toasted bread to buns on burgers.
You just kicked it up a notch.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given another Mini to add to the herd. -
Thanks Mickey. As I said, that bread really toasted up nicely with just a little EVOO brushed on. Nice and crusty on the outside, but still soft on the inside.

Dang Kenny - you are really getting the hang of this Egg thing aren't you.
But what would anyone expect from someone from South Louisiana.
Very Nice. -
Thanks Frank. I'm definitely hooked!
