Shrimp!! mmmmmmmmmm!!!
We landed in Ft. Myers today and we were STARVED. We asked around and decided to give Joe's a try. It's a chain restaurant but the food was fantastic to say the least. The lobster bisques was to die for (no pics) and we also had an order of "Great balls of fire" that were jalapeno, shrimp and crab balls...very good. Our entree, the "Low Country Boil" was one of the best I've ever had. It contained shrimp (heads on), andouille, corn and red potatoes. They also served coleslaw with it and cheesy garlic bread. Those heads on shrimp are so good, even though the heads have the most flavor and nutrition we refrained from indulging. But the rest of the shrimp was delicious, very buttery and just melted in your mouth.
We'll be here for another week, so no egging, restaurant food only. But if it's all like this I'll be a happy camper.
These little guys are sooooooo good!!
Del loves to play with his food!!
The view from our table. Can't wait to go back again!!

South Seas Plantation used to have a restaurant that on Fri night the buffet was to die for. Only restaurant on the property to be open to the non-registered guests.

No, we went home for a few days, unpacked, did some laundry and left again. Thanks for the links to the restaurants. We'll be here for another week so I'll do some reading and check them out.
Thanks again for the coffee rub. Haven't been home long enough to try but I'm looking forward to it. -
Thanks Ross!! It's hard to have a bad time in FL.

Hey Bubba, where do you live that you get heads on shrimp? I'm lovin' it here, we don't get these up in WI. They say it's because they perish quickly unless you pull the heads off.

Hey Anne,
Looks like you and Del are all set for a very nice time. Getting some "touristo" help from Richard is a plus.
Enjoy! -
A very nice relaxing time. That was really nice of Richard, he's a wealth of information.

Glad you had a good meal at Joe's.
We have a bunch in this area and one real close to our house in Galveston. Food there is bad. I had the same steam pot a few months ago and I had to grab a burger on the way home.
My sister lived in Fort Myers for many years and we had a great time visiting.
Safe travel and see you in OKC...and Austin.

I am with Darian on Texas Joe's Crab Shacks.
Glad you liked Fl's Joes. But please be careful in Texas and Austin, the Joe's are not up to par :(Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers. -
We were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. We lucked out I guess. The Ft. Myers area is beautiful. We're staying right on the water and it's gorgeous. I'm sitting outside of my room right now and there's dolpin about 30 ft. away playing. Beautiful morning!!
Waiting for Del to wake up he was partying with his 84 yt. olf mom till late last night.
Can't wait to see you and Lora in OKC and then on to Texas. Texas is the one I'm really looking forward to. -
Thanks for the heads up on that Mickey. We'll be depending on you guys to steer us toward some great locals places. We may stay a little longer just to check out the area. We've never been to Austin.
-
You know if Del is still sleaping and you have a camera, you still owe him one for OKC last year. LOL
If the weather is good in Austin it will be great.

Hey...that looks like our old sail boat (the one on the left all by itself). Get Leroy to tell you the story of the lost hat and the boat when we lived in Miami...too funny. Sure do miss the palm trees and that great seafood. Have some more for me. See ya soon....Judy

Ask around the area I went to there from the early '80's 'til late '90's was on South Seas Plantation and the only restaurant that the general public could get into without being a registered guest. It was a Friday night buffet and people would drive from Miami for the event. Gallahad's, Gullivers I forget after some martinis. hehe!!
