Thermometer problem

I have a Polder. I've had it since I bought my Egg (a month or so) and have used it 8-10 times. I put a whole pork shoulder on the smoker about half an hour ago at 230 degrees. The Polder jumped to 180 internal within 20 minutes.
What gives?
What gives?

Sounds like your thermometer is going bad. Check the calibration, stick it in boiling water. Should read 212* or thereabouts based on elevation and atmospheric conditions. Or stick it in an icebath, should read 32*. Also try a new battery. HTH.

Make sure it is in the middle. You can move it in and out, checking the temp change. Besides that, it might have an issue. Can check in boiling water.
What time is the pulled pork going to be ready...... sounds like I need to make supper plans...  -
Verify its operation in a pan of boiling water. Simple.

pulled it, brought it inside, put it in boiling water.......212.
Cussed it real good and went back out and reinserted it.......meat temp 51 degrees -
Is the tip in a fat pocket or touching a bone? Is the probe contacting the lid? Just a few possibilities...
