Pig Flu weekend

My son came home with pig flu today. I'm staying home the next couple of days with him.......nothin to do all weekend.
I've bought enough meat to:
smoke a brisket (tomorrow)
smoke a Boston Butt
make a bacon explosion
grill some chicken thighs....I'm thinkin' Italian style, butterflied and stuffed with marinated mozerella

Make lots of pork to get revenge on those pesky swine. Hope your kid feels better.

With all due respect, who identified it as HiNi? and not one of a dozen other strains circulating?

Hope your son gets to feeling better. Tim

Not definite ID.....but a positive flu test and a quote from the doctors office saying that the overwhelming majority of cases around here identified so far have been H1N1.......it could be another.....just doesn't sound as probable.
His sister had it a few days ago. I will say this, if it is swine flu, it is "better" than the traditional in that it is not as severe. One really "yucky" day with aching joints, fever, sore throat, sneezing, stuffiness. Then the next two days with no fever, a lot less aches and some soreness...but minor comparative -
I had a full-blown case of the real McCoy a good while back and it seemed as though it took weeks to fully recover. After that I faithfully got in line for an annual shot. As far as the swine variety goes... I dunno. Perhaps I'll hold off for a bit.... Are others sitting on the fence with this one?

Thanks for the info. Just wondering about the extent of the H1N1 this fall. I wish all of the family a speedy recovery.
I had a touch of one two weeks ago that i must have picked up in South America but it wasn't the H1N1 -
it may be mild in some but it killed my Uncle in the spring (he did have a pacemaker but he was in great health before getting the swine flu and he died in 3 days after getting the flu) - so don't dismiss it out of hand ... .. that said I won't get the flu shot because
1- I generally don't get flu shots (I am one of the ones who get sick from shots - really really sick)
and
2 - I think it was rushed into production - which worries me - I don't trust things that are rushed
but I do come from a different point of view than most - my Mother took DES when she was pregnant with me and I have many problems from that so I tend to think of pharmaceuticals as possible problems rather than good things.
just my .02 -- hope the family feels better quickly -
I had it in July, ended up in critical care for 8 days with pneumonia an pleurisy. From what I understand, once you had it, you are immune.
The problem is that the people who get really sick, get REALLY sick, like me.
