Ross I went with the Cotronics, and I am very happy with it. Here is what I used and did.

Good luck what ever you decide to use. -
Ross...Bubba Tim and I have been using Coltronics (395?) for several years, and they have been bullet proof.
Added bonus...the are self adhesive...no goo, no mess.
Just our two cents.

I used Nomex and 3M Super 77 adhesive. It has held strong. I used a Dremel tool to sand off the old adhesive - works a heck of alot easier (and quicker) than elbow grease and solvents.
I installed it in April and its looking good and holding strong after lots of cooks. After I installed mine I left it alone for a few days actually 1 wk I think.
All in all I am happy - works alot better than the old felt gaskets. -
Thanks Jerry

Mike,
Great website.
Thanks for the link on Coltronics, must have had my head in the sand not hearing about that one before. Looks like a great solution and will try if the Nomex wears out. -
Have none on Small or Large and see no difference. Very little smoke at lid.
Small off for past year and large off for past 6 months..Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given another Mini to add to the herd. -
Thanks Mickey

Ross,
What makes the COTRONICS better than the others ? Why not the others ?
I will have to change my gaskets in the near future and want to use the gasket that will last the longest. That's if there is such a thing.
Thanks.

Mickey your one of the lucky ones
No amount of grinding could take out the mismatch on mine.
Gary there is another post in here that shows a burnt
Nomex. I've used Rutlands for years, my only complaint
would be that I wish it were a bit thicker. I may try
installing one with the 3M glue.
Ross Do you know of a good source for the COTRONICS gasket. Direct I'm sure the minimum purchase would be
huge. Thanks -
if you mean installing a new Rutland with that 3M spray adhesive don't bother you won't be happy. Instead use a tube of Permatex Ultra Copper to adhere it. It's available at any automotive store. The 3M is merely contact cement in a liquid/gaseous form and won't bond well with the Rutland though it can work for spot repairs.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

Thanks for the heads up on that...the ne gasket just came in the mail.

A 100' roll of Cotronics (enough to do 7 large Eggs) costs less than $30 plus shipping. I use #397-41 (1/6" x 1") rated 1500* adhered with Permatex 26B RTV.
