Opinions on DigiQ II please

My old Competitor Guru finally bit the dust. I've been doing some reading on it's replacement.....the DigiQ II.

Any opinions (Pro or Con) on this or something better would be greatly appreciated.

I have one and like it a lot. Great for the longer cooks, you just set it up an forget about it. I highly recommend it.

is there any benefit for short cooks?

I'd say not really. I never use one, say, for a one hour chicken. For a 5 hours ribs cook, I would use it since I get distracted sometimes.

As far as I know, your choice is between The BBQ Guru and The Stoker. I wouldn't say one is better than the other, they are just different with different strong points and features. You can compare them on my website on the Product Review page.

As far as temperature controllers go, I love them. Specifically, the DigiQ II is a great product and works very well. You will probably like the Open Lid Detect which you didn't have on the Competitor. Also, the probes are tougher and separate, so that if you don't want to use a food probe, you can leave it in the box.

It's a great thing. I use mine at every single competition and at home for personal cooks. Works like a charm.
