I like the current forum setup and Stike your right on with the corner bar reference. This place has become a lot more than a card file for me and like the neighborhood bar sometimes personalities lead to a trip to the parking lot before you can sit back down and buy each other a beer. The good and the bad I like it just the way it is.
Hold my beer,,,, Ya'll watch this ,,, eh :woohoo: :woohoo:

I'm not advocating little folders. I'm advocating simplicity. For instance, I keep mine view in the traditional view so I can keep track of what was done when. I would like it better if each post had a "down" or "up" button just so that I didn't have to scroll up and down to click to the next post. On these really long threads that is a royal pain. I just don't see why what we have should be hard to use. Another thing that gets me is the constant "return to index". It is at the top and bottom of the current post you are reading. Even if that were just in another place or two that would be better.

Again, just a little more user friendly would be better in my opinion. I've been a member of many bb's through the years, several far bigger than this. A couple had this same type of feeling of comraderie. It's the people that make that up, not the format of software.

If there is a problem with people getting registered it's inherent in the software, not with the people themselves. That in itself speaks of a reason to change. I personally like a system that let's someone be a member for X amount of time but then then must register. Most people will see the merits of coming aboard.

One tip I can give you is to make the egghead forum a favorite and drop it into the shortcut bar on your desktop. Then any time you want to "return to index" you can click on that shortcut and it will go right back to the main list of topics.

Another tip, used tabs. Open each thread in a new tab, read it, then close that tab. Makes it easy to keep track of what's been read and what hasn't.

Another tip, everyone quit the f---ing whining and light a GD fire in their grill and cook something. The forum format is fine, but the quality of posts has gone way downhill.

I like the mix it up and talk about everything. I never look at the OT forum. I just pull up the main page and read what I want, and pass up what I don't want to read. Lots of goo OT questions have been posted in the past that I have learned from. Now if I was only smarter.
