Anyone ever use Silverleaf Maple wood for smoke. Neighbor lost a tree in a storm, plenty of wood to use, I just don't know about what it will taste like, bitter I am thinking...

There was a similar thread a week or so back, different wood but same concept. Why not cut off a hunk and use it to smoke an inexpensive piece or two of chicken with no seasoning or sauce -- then give it a taste test? In the end all that matters is if you like what it adds to a cook.

If it is good, the hoard it all, and if it is bad you are only out a couple bucks and an hour.

I use sugar maple pretty regularly (thank Tom) and like it a lot.
