While at the Seattle Egg fest we bought a BGE pizza stone for our medium egg.
Just wondering if there was any special care and feeding we should be aware of when we us it.

Don't ust soap to clean it. I use a scour pad and water to clean it. It will get stains and turn to a dark color but nothing to worry about. I have a putty knife dedicated to scraping the stone and plate setter.

Not really. Nothing need be done before you use it. Cleaning it consists of just using a scraper to scrape any burnt on food. I have a little more information in my pizza web page:

Just don't drop it. That's all the "care" mine ever get. I let any food that's on it burn off for cleaning.

If it gets to bad looking for you the self clean cycle on the egg or even in your oven will make it new again.

About once or twice a summer, I run my plate setter and my pizza stone through the self cleaning cycle on my oven. Do they really need it? Not really, if you scrape off the residue, but they really look like new...tom
