How old is my Egg?

I bought my LBGE at a yard sale recently. $200.00 for the egg, home made table and a few eggessories. Is there any way for me to learn how old it is? It had the old style lever type hinge assembly that I just replaced with the spring type. I neglected to ask him at the time, given my excitement, and now he’s moved away. Any serial number or other distinguishing characteristic that I can look for?

No wonder you forgot to ask, you gotta deal!!!!
-
To quote "The Mask".... SMMMMMMMMOKIN'!!!
What a deal! -
Not bad Grasshopper! You did good as long as the guts are in good shape and even then you did good. The table is almost worth that. Does it have a seam in the dome right down the middle? It looks like it was loved.
-
Man why can't I find deals like that.
-
They are out there you just have to be persistant. Being in the right place at the right time also helps. Use the Egger network.

I am not positive, but I believe that they did away with the locking hinge and the black bottom vent about 10 years ago. 10 years or 2 years, great deal.
-
8 years maybe. The older black draft door tells the age more than anything
-
Quite the steal eh. Well I got yours all put together but there is good news and bad news.
-
cut it in half and count the rings....
-
my egg is VERY similar to yours. The black vent door, and older lever hinges.
Where did you get the spring hinge from? How much were they? I want to upgrade mine!
I got mine a couple weeks ago off craigslist, for $250 with a nest, cover, electric starter and a few other eggcessories. -
The spring hinges and band set you can get from the dealer for $86.
-
anyone know if the new silver screened lower air vent will retrofit onto my older egg?
-
It should fit no problem I put one on a friends older Egg and it was a direct fit the spring hinge and band set was $86. I looked up my reciept. The lower draft door is about $30.
