Some miss the old telephone ringing.
I miss my old grade school bell chimes in the distant, they are electric now. How about you, what do you miss hearing?

When I was a kid there were more tin roofs. Most every back yard shed was covered with that. I loved the sound of rain on a tin roof. You don't hear that much anymore. Speaking of phones not ringing anymore, but chirping instead, my cell phone has a ringer that sounds just like the bells in the phones of yesteryear. I get some strange looks when my phone rings in public.

SILENCE. It seems to have gone by the wayside. :(

Prayers before the start of public meetings
The "Pledge of Allegience" in public places
I also agree with Fidel -
I have a tin roof in the Coop. Sometimes when I'm out there and a rain comes up it reminds me of tin roofs back in another life. It has to be considered "Good Noise."
I can't pick out one thing I actually 'miss' hearing but I'm sure I'll know it when I hear it.

The whip-o-wills that were in my neighborhood since we moved here in 1965 and disappeared 4 years ago. I used to always declare spring "official" when I heard the first whip-o-will and then enjoy them all summer. That was something that I really thought was a constant and couldn't believe it when I went an entire summer without hearing one. Bummer.

The screaming, roaring and fire belching,of a 7 to 8000 horsepower nitro burning motor from a nitro funny car or dragster. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Sounds of an old manual type writer... with the manual return handle. How about the old mechanical cash registers.

A live person answering the phones at any Major Corporation you might be calling. Or an AT&T Operator answering when you dial 0.

I had one pecking on the gutter outside my bedroom window for about 3 weeks at about 5:00am. I never could get a shot at that sucker.
