Protecting my XL table from heat.

Just ordered a XL green Egg.
I also ordered the table for it to sit in.
Delivery and set up on tap for next week
I can't remember being this excited about a purchase for a long time.
Question to the pro's.
To shield the table from heat, is there a trick.
Would a cement sidewalk block set right under the egg help to deflect
some heat.
I would like to keep the table as clean and neat as possible.
Thanks in advance for any advice you feel I could use.

Welcome to the cult.....err,club :woohoo: Yes a concrete stepping stone will do just fine, that's what most of us use
-
Yes and you will find that you will need a bigger paver stone for the XL. I would also recommend putting the green feet on as well the heat will penitrate the paver stone too. In the picture below I had not gotten the feet and since have. There have been post where Eggers have re-finished there Egg Tables and had only the paver stone and it still burnt the wood. I found a perfect size stone for my XL at Home Depot and added the Green feet as well.

Use the feet. This was my large sitting on the paver without the feet. I didn't even know it was there until I went to refinish the table.

Thanks so much for the help.
I will for sure get the Green Feet.
What a comfort to have this kind of experience to draw from. -
I think you will like having the BGE feet handy for certain cooks. I picked up 3 (XL would need 4) terra cotta plant pot feet. You can get them at Home Depot, Lowes or Garden center near the terra cotta pots. Works great and keep air flow under the egg.

I picked up a few from my dealer. They are usually about $3.oo Each but the Dealer just gave them to me. It pays to visit the dealer regularly.

I still have about a dozen left after mailing out a few sets.

Thanks I will check with my dealer.
I'm in Edmonton Alberta, Canada.
We have 2 great dealers here who stock most everything.
Things around here are now thawing out.
I can't wait until my unit comes in next week.
Asking around I have been told Maple Leaf is great Lump.
We have a Canadian chain that carries it.
Have you or anyone else used this lump? -
No but I thought that this was a pretty neat review tool.
