no.It sits on top of the top fire ring, legs up or down depending on what you are cooking.
-
****, i tried that and the lid wouldnt seal (it was hitting the grill)
Damn, is it going to crack or similar? -
Are you by chance useing an XL Egg?
-
Are you using a new platesetter on an XL
-
yes, an XL...
I just flipped it back and got the lid to close by moving the setter a bit...
it just seems odd since its a few inches above the lip now... -
Sounds to me like you got the new platestter, but have an older style XL egg
-
Hmm, well, i think its ok for now.. I just bought both (placesetter and egg) a few weeks ago.
How can I tell if one is old and one new? -
I think you nailed it.Been others on here withincorrect innards! ! :woohoo:

Here is a link to help you figure out which one you have. If you have the new model XL you will need the new model Plate setter. They are different.

Ha, yeah platesetter...
Anyway.. so im guessing I have either and older XL egg and a newer platesetter or vice versa?
How would I go about figuring out whats what? -
How tall is your PLATESETTER?
-
The newer platesetters for an XL are a little taller and the top firering on new XLs are a little shorter. You could have an older model XL with the taller firering and a new style platesetter making it a little too tall to work properly. At least that is my understanding from what I've seen posted on the subject.

Does it look like this? How tall are the legs?
