I have decided to use the cast iron grill grate all the time and was wondering if anyone has any comments on pro's and con's of this......

It's heavy. I use mine most of the time.
I did cut it into two halves and it is much easier to handle (literally and figuratively)! -
I only have cast iron in my small - but it sees 60% of all my cooks. I have never once returned to the old grate, nor do I even flip it as I use the pointed side only.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time
