HI All
I have used BGE Lump charcoal, very good,
cowboy Lump charcoal, seemed good,
Humphrey charcoal from www.thecharcoalstore,
very good, has a mild oak flavor, liked a lot. So is this Royal Oak charcoal the best?
or just another vey good charcoal? Where do I get? Would like some feedback from you lump charcoal eggers. I like to try it all.
thanks BullyC

RO is a good brand if you get the american made lump. It is a good all around lump, very consistant and easy to find.(Wal-Mart) There are some others that are touted as being better for competitions or hotter burning, but for my money RO is great.

I've recently (5 bags ago) switched to nothing but RO. Its cheap, wal-mart has it, and its cooked well for me so far.

BGE Lump IS Royal Oak..

Royal Oak = BGE = Korger and some other brands.

Publix's in house lump is also Royal Oak. I just used it for the first time and thought it was as good as BGE and much cheaper ($5.49/8.8 lb.). I used it for skirt steaks and got a good, hot, 650 degree fire in no time. It had little smoke and very little ash. I have not tried it for a low and slow yet.
Try calling them at:
Royal Oak Enterprises, Inc.
1 Royal Oak Ave, Roswell, GA 30076-7583
Tel: (678) 461-3200
I am pretty sure this is the number I have used in the past. I have called them before to find out where their lump charcoal is available in my area and they were very helpful. I know I had to search for the right number and found a few that didn't work. This should be the number for their corporate headquarters.
I just tried this number knowing that they would be closed at this time of night and did get an automated message at their HQ, so this must be the number I used in the past.

Here the link to the Whiz' site. You need to go in and take a look. There are at least 4 kinds of RO>

Find yourself a vendor that has Wicked Good or call them and try a bag or two of Weekend Warrior. Then do as many forum members do, order a palette full. -
I'll support my BGE dealer, even pay more, before I'll shop at Wally World. MHO
