Will a whole packer brisket fit on LBGE

I was just on the bbq brethren site and saw a thread about which brisket type to use. I was wondering does an entire packer brisket (point and flat still attached) fit on a large big green egg? If so, any special set up with the drippan or raised grid or anything?
thanks
thanks

line the edge of the egg with foil, place thicker end of brisket toward back edge and then scrunch the rest in towards the front, they fit. some will drape it over a can or rib rack but scrunching works fine, it shrinks as you cook it.fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

Grid diameter is 18" plus 1" or 2" margin...squeeze it in if necessary...will shrink a little. I've used the rised grid only when I cook two at a time....normally put some red wine on the drip pan....

Well I hope so or all those Packers I cooked at competitions were a figment of my imagination :woohoo:
Low and Slow, Plate setter, drip pan (you might want to raise this some) -
I cook whole briskets on my medium. I have to elevate the middle of the brisket with a beer can until it shrinks to fit.

Do you have any liquid in the can? Does it add any flavor or act as a baster or anything?
thanks

No, no liquid in the can, it's just a spacer for a couple of hours until the brisket shrinks. You can stand the can upright too. It's a good idea to take a tape measure to the store.Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery -
Beli, the red wine goes in my glass. The brisket goes on the egg tonight at MIDNIGHT my time.
I will use the rib rack to raise the middle of the brisket hopefully enough to get it all in. This one is 14.58 lbs which is the largest I've done on my large egg. My selections were not great. The flats, I felt, were actually flater then I wanted. I don't recall having the flats this thin but we'll see how it does. For those who don't like the yellow mustard, I was too fast with the John Henry Pecan Rub. Then I remembered the mustard after I had partially rubbed it. I thought, oh well. We'll just do this one without it. -
Did you have stike draw the illustration for you? If he did he's getting better.

I kinda like stike's drawings....all the pretty colored pencils.......and his handwriting is neat too. I go the John Madden route from time to time.
