chit happens... thats why they are cheap..
-
My first one went for 6 years (approx 2190 days) and only replaced it because I didn't like the way it looked. Guess I was just lucky.
-
Should I try to reattach it? or just get a new one? What is the best ( logest lasting gle to use? Thanks for any help.
-
Get a new one. They come pre-glued.
-
I would just replace, they are cheap, and clean real good before installing unless you have the nomex which seems to have a problem not at the egg but between the gasket and the adhesive. 3M makes an adhesive that others have posted good results with, I think it was 77 but not sure.
-
Don't know if it was nomex or not. how do you tell? thanks
-
If it looks like a firemen's suit it's nomex..
-
It will look like Pete's legs. The factory one looks like his beard.

HAR DEE HAR HAR!!!

Sorry Pete, Guess it's past my bedtime. G' nite

No worries my friend!! A rey ting is IRIE!!

Nomex is white. The Original is grey.

Mine is the gray felt one. It came off totally. I think the adhesive failed. I have no gasket remaining on the egg. Will call the dealer this morning.
-
When mine came off after 6 cooks, I got a hold of BGE in Tucker and asked if I could get a new Nomex. They sent it to me with directions to install (free of charge and shipping, I might add). I did get the 3M adhesive. So far so good!
-
Fixed mine a year and a half ago with Elmers super bond white glue, and a piece of weatherstripping felt. It has stood up ever since.
-
I am going on year 2 with my large BGE and, although I have never had a gasket problem, I feel your pain. For as much as these things cost, you would think they would build them with a decent gasket.
-
Well the dealer is going to bring out a new gasket Friday. They put the egg together, seams there is a little to much gap in the rear of the egg. So they will adjust it and install the new gasket. At least I bought from a very reputable dealer.
