Unicorn Magnum
No comparison in my book. -
I have Vic Firth Gourmet S & P grinders and they are great.

I agree! Thanks to stike who put us on to these superior grinders!

After looking at the site, I guess I have the magnum plus. It holds a LOT of corns.
Alton Brown uses/recommends it on one of his "Good Eats" programs that has been running a few years. I think he uses this brand pretty regularly on his show. -
Go to a local restaurant supply house and get a professional quality grinder. You will have it for a lifetime and they come with lifetime mechanism warranties.

I figured you'd probably have the Plus

I just looked at mine. It reads "William Bounds Original". I bought it 25+ years ago, and as memory serves, I paid $85(!!!!!) for it. I may be off on my memory of price, but it has served me well over the 25+ years. And, it could easily go for another 25. It is awesome!

I've put this model thru it's paces for a number of years!

They make all ranges, styles, and levels of quality!I spent most of my money on good bourbon, and bad women...the rest, I just wasted!! -
I just bought a unicorn magnum plus. Thank all for your help.

Thanks for the tip. I'm in the market for one, too, since I did a TRex on eight NY strips a couple of weeks ago and wound up with pumped wrists from twisting the lousy plastic unit I have now.

I have one of these, but it's chrome instead of silver. Love it

I love the fact that I can choose fine, medium and coarse grind. It's been a WORKHORSE! -
I got a Unicorn Magnum last year. Best grinder I ever used.

I'm partial to models by Trudeau myself -- get the grinders with the ceramic mechanism, not steel, and you can use them for salt and spices as well.
Check here for both the Trudeau and the Unicorn models: http://www.fantes.com/pepper-salt-mills.html
