Butt and Egg temp. monitoring

This is a theoretical question. I made a phenomal butt about a month ago, and quite frankly, it is time for another. Last one was almos 9# and took about 17hrs at 240-250. I started it at 10pm and was consantly running outside to check the temp of the egg to make sure there was not any wild temp. fluctuations. I lost a bit of sleep. I have since procured a wireless thermometer, which is great for steaks, chicken, etc. But seeing as how I am not going to be worried about taking the temp of the butt for 17 or so hours, i feel I am more worried initially about the dome temp. So I was going to gator clip the probe of the wireless termo to the egg thermo and use another wire thermo probe for the pork temp. This way, while I am in bet at 1am a quick check of the wireless thermo will give me the dome temp.
Question is??? AM I overthinking this, or is this a reasonable solution?

No, but the new BGE remote thermometer does both internal meat temp. and a minimum, maximum dome temp.
with alarms to wake you if they get out of range. -

Where do find info on this Thermometer?
-
I got mine at my BGE distributor, but I'm sure you can call BGE customer service and get one. They're really nice and work well. My first butt that I cooked, the thermometer woke me up at 3:00 am because the fire had gone above my max setting of 270.

Thanks, I was trying to find it online no luck. JD

It looks kinda like this, but there is a newer model out now. It actually has the BGE logo on the remotes. -
I have the BGE modle of this but lost the instructions. Can someone tell me where I can download a printable copy please?
Thank you -
If you go to the link I provided, scroll down to product description, and there is a pdf of the manual.

Sorry, guess I did not read far enough down. I had even gone to the Maverick site & could not find it.
Thank you. -
Tried all sorts of things. I don't think you are overthinking. I may have gone overboard in my monitoring:
