Help with Temp control!!!

I just put an 8 lb butt on for tomorrow night about 5:00PM. The temp already ran up to 250 degrees. My cardinal rule when cooking butts is that I never mess with the air vents once they reach approx. 190. Since it is so hot out 96 degrees I am assuming the temp ran faster.
Any suggestions on getting it down to 220 so that it can get through the night????
Thanks and have a great weekend!

there's no real difference between 250 and 220, other than extending the length of the cook.
i'd just let it go at 250, frankly.ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
