is this a reasonable distance from sightseeing parts of Chigago? I'll be limited to one day(friday) to check some parts of the city out.
Also someone here mentioned there is another eggfest in IL in Sept...where is that one?

The one in sept is about 30 miles west of the city, Peoria looks to be about 130 miles away, Ron will probably chip in and he'll know exactly. -RP

I am not sure what your definition of "reasonable distance" is, but Peoria is a good 2+ hour drive from Chicago.
The September fest is in Oswego, IL which like AZRP said is about 30 miles from downtown Chicago. If you are looking to sitesee in Chicago, this would be the one to pick. As far as I know, they haven't finalized an exact date yet. They do have it narrowed down either the 13th or the 20th.
Here is a link to the post that announced the Chicago area fest....

You can search the forum for "Oswego" and find a few other posts about it also. -
If you want to see the city, what I would do is park at a suburban train station in Aurora or Naperville and take the train in. That way you don't have to deal with parking and traffic, we used to ditch school and go in to watch the Cubs games that way. -RP

Todd,
As much as I like to defend the Peoria community of 110,000 it obviously is not the size of Chicago and surrounding burbs. To confirm what AZRP and Krusty said we are a solid 2 hours from Chicago. For you I believe the Sept event will be a better plan based on the bang for your buck and the short time frame you'll have.
Trust me...as a PROUD "down stater" as we are called it was difficult to post this!

Hey Ron, Todd can go down and get a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses while he is there. To me they are the best money can buy just like the BGE.

LOL - that's a good point! Not only is Peoria the world headquarters for Maui Jim but also Caterpillar! We're a BIG little town!

I have three pair of Maui Jim's my wife has a pair and I bought my brother in law a pair last week as a gift...I would say I'm a big fan...LOL

Need to know dates and location of fest to let my Uncle who lives there get a taste of BGEdome.
