concrete countertops

hey guys
my thanks to greg for posting those pics----i could not figure out how to do it. as greg is doing now, i formed the top upside down in melamine board for a smooth finish. after a 10 day curing process, you can wet polish the concrete with diamond pads on a grinder. for this one, i went from an 800 grit to a 2000 grit diamond pad (a couple of hours). after 24 hours of drying, i sealed it with a water based granite sealer. 24 hrs later came a coat of beeswax, which needs to be reapplied every year. sounds like a lengthy process, but only around 6 hours actual worktime. i've been doing these countertops for kitchens and bathrooms in the N Georgia area for a while, and did one for my bge table. thought it might sell so offered it some local dealers last week.....wish me luck...by the way i sell them for $500/ea., but shipping is an issue
happy grilling, and thanks again to greg!

I found a few do-it-yourself sites a few months back when I though I would have to make countertops for my outdoor kitchen but we just happened on a goodly amount of Corian for a piddly sum of just over $100, so we went that route. But I'm still intrigued by the concrete countertop process and may make something else.
It's good that you are sharing your experience for those of us who may find it a bit overwhelming. But from what I've seen, yours included, the reward may be worth it.
Thanks. I hope you sell lots of them.
