Having trouble cooling off my BGE after cooking turkey earlier today. Is it safe to have gone ahead and started the butts at 325 degrees while waiting for it to cool down to 250 degrees?
Thanks.
Thanks.

tommy,
No problem whatsoever! You'll have to babysit with it for a while to get it stabilized at 250. It's easier to stabilize it at your target temp., though, before you put your butts in.

tommy,
Depending on how much meat you put on, the cold meat will drop the temp. Have you added wood and plate setter, that will make it drop more. Like John said, your going to have to babysit for awile. We don't want to see a "Is it ruined" post in the morning.[p]Mike

tommy,
Well, after reading this again. How much lump is in the egg? You should have used quite a bit cooking the turkey. I would have had to think you might have needed to add more lump for a 16+ hour cook. Lowerly the temp egg temp and might be able to get it stabilized quicker. But, I don't know the weight of the meat.[p]Mike
