strange week of picture taking here, made some great ribs and some pastrami and ruebens over the weekend and only took pictures of an oven cooked bulkie roll pizza and this picture of my fish finder showing a school of a million baby smelt. the rainy weekend ive been praying for most of the summer finally came and it pulled the smelt out of 200 foot depths into shallow water. might not be as pretty as the flowers to most, but mesmerizing for a landlock salmon fisherman

fishlessman,
what brand and do you like it?

RRP,
this is an old hummingbird, not the greatest for what im doing with it, our lakes are too deep and it doesnt differentiate bottom hugging fish down a hundred or more feet. not a good choice for salt water or clear deep water. shines at shallow to maybe 60 foot depths. its on the list for a winter upgrade this winter to a lowrence color with lake charting capabillities, i really need a unit that shows lake bottom depths charted out with a map and gps with depth contours. this one will be used on the bass boat were it works great for finding shallower structure and large and smallmouth bass. you need to match the unit with the intended use, this a great small pond or shallow lake unit and will do everthing the more picey units do in those circumstances, works great for bass, perch, and most trout fishing.

Well friends... here's the tomatoes that I slow cooked/smoked... 250 for 4 hours... Romas cut crosswise (~3/4 inch thick)... seasoned with fresh ground salt & pepper, fresh thyme and basil, a pinch of powdered sugar (since I didn't have any granulated)... drizzled with lemon infused olive oil! VERY TASTY! So far, I've added to pasta, green beens and zucchini![p][p][p][p]Here's the pic from my Native Indian Proverb post yesterday
...as I said, those early Native Americans obviously were not cooking on a Big Green Egg!

WooDoggies,
As usual, great shots John! -RP

WooDoggies,[p]I didn't do any exciting cooks over the past week. I did however do some tasty chicken legs last night. My usual is to marinate in EVOO and Dales low sodium followed by a heavy dose of DP Shakin' the Tree. Cooked direct at 300 for 90 minutes, the final 10 minutes at 400 to crisp the skin a little. This time I did half of them with Tsunami Spin - outstanding![p]

Rick's Tropical Delight,
All that food, particularly the Oysters, looked killer.[p]When did you take that picture of Mt. St. Helens? I have a lot of old film pictures from probably 5 years ago and it looks about the same. I should scan them.

And now for the minor leagues. I thought this thing was a Humming bird at first, it is apparently an insect. It was too fast to get a good pic with my whimpy camera.
-
duckegg,
do a search for hummingbird moth. thats what it is
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
duckegg,
It is a hummingbird moth. We got photos of one in our yard a couple weeks ago while we were trying to catch the hummingbirds. These are rare but a lot easier to get to stay long enough to photo.
-
duckegg,
that was two days ago.
-
Rick's Tropical Delight,
It hasn't changed much. We were there when they had recently opend up the road and were amazed at how fast things were starting to grow on the way up. I guess not up top though. I will look up some of my old pics.
